Teddy Bears Picnic finds a new home
ABE’s Bagels Teddy Bears Picnic finds a new
home
The ABE’S Bagel’s
Teddy Bears Picnic has found a new home, and takes place
at a new time of the year in 2010.
This iconic Auckland event has been entertaining families for the past 28 years, making it’s the longest running event of its kind in the country. After starting in Cornwall Park, and then spending over twenty years at the Auckland Domain, the Picnic settles into a new home this December at Western Springs.
This is the perfect place for the Picnic with Western Springs providing a great family environment with its grassed areas and trees for shade. It has plenty of space for the free entertainment and activities that come with the ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic, and a central Auckland location for kids to take their teddy bears to.
So – on Sunday, the 5th of December, the 2010 ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic will bring Western Springs to life from 11am – 4pm.
Event Manager, Sandra Beacham is excited about the new location, saying – “Western Springs is ideal for the ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears as it is a well known location, is easy to access and provides a family friendly environment. Families coming to this year’s Picnic on the 5th of December will be able to enjoy the traditional Teddy Bear’s Picnic activities, as well as some new attractions in 2010”
There is an array of free activities at this year’s ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic from stage shows to strolling performers, musicians to magicians.
Two stage shows will host entertainment from kid’s characters to singing groups and dance routines. The Westfield St Lukes Entertainment Stage will feature the likes of Funky Monkeys and Ronald McDonald, while the Lakeside Entertainment Stage hosts entertainers such as the Popsicle Band and Alan Watson the Magician.
Fairy Clare is back at the Picnic, with her flock of fairies creating a magical world for children. Kids will drift into a world of wonder with the Fairies and Pixies in a grotto setting amongst the Western Springs trees.
Free face painting is another popular Teddy Bears Picnic pastime with the Body FX team set to transfer kids into their favourite characters such as Superhero’s, butterflies or princesses. The strolling performers are also back, dressed as wizards, clowns and children’s characters.
The Classic Hits Teddy Bears Parade is back on the programme, with kids and their teddys able to parade behind the Classic Hits team and strolling performers at 12:30pm.
New features at the 2010 ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic include the Hedgehog Bikes Course, and the McDonalds 20 metre inflatable football pitch.
There is also a new charity with fundraising on the day going to Kids Can.
Pack a picnic, the whole family and your favourite bears and get set to welcome the ABE’S Bagel’s Teddy Bears Picnic to its new home at Western Springs on Sunday, the 5th of December from 11am – 4pm.
