Mayoral Gift Appeal for Christmas 2010

Wednesday 24 November 2010

MEDIA RELEASE

MAYORAL GIFT APPEAL FOR CHRISTMAS 2010

Stratford District Council will again be appealing for donations of Christmas gifts for the less fortunate to be left under the Council Office Christmas tree this December.

A long tradition in Stratford, the Mayoral Christmas Tree Gift Appeal sees people taking their good, pre-loved and new toys and gifts to the District Council offices to be distributed to those families requiring assistance this festive season.

District Mayor Neil Volzke says, “As in other years, it is anticipated that a generous response will be received from the public”.

For some children, the gift they get from the Mayoral Gift Appeal may be the only one they receive this Christmas.

To ensure the gifts so generously donated find a good home, this year we will receive confidential nominations of families and individuals in need.

Please contact the Community Services Manager at Stratford District Council to provide family name, delivery address, gender and age of family members.

Nominations may be made by phone or mail to 06 765 6099 or to Community Services Manager, PO Box 320, Miranda Street, Stratford 4352 by Friday 17 December 2010.

Each nomination and the distribution process will be treated with the highest degree of confidentiality that coincides with Council policies.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Services Manager, Mrs Pauline James.
