“The appointments that have been made reflect our desire to move quickly to establish the Council organisation and deliver momentum on the key issues facing our region,” says Mayor Len Brown.
“Council faced a tight time frame in making these appointments, however the directors we selected bring the required experience and skills necessary to deliver for the community.
“We have gone through a process that sought expressions of interest from the public and selected directors with a range of business, community and political backgrounds, who come from right around the region.”
The committee will be establishing a formal process, which due to timeframes was unable to be utilised for current selections, to guide the appointment of future directors.
In addition, in order to fulfil Mayor Brown’s campaign pledge to ensure CCO directors will retain the confidence of the council, directors of all boards (including these appointments) will be subject to an annual performance review.
“The community can be assured we have put in place people with the community’s interest at heart, who will deliver on our vision for Auckland and will make a positive contribution to the activities of the Auckland Council,” says Mr Brown.
