Erin Park Retirement Village residents are celebrating Christmas with a traditional Christmas dinner for residents and their families with a special visit from the man in red.

Getting into the festive spirit the residents have put up Christmas trees and decorations around the village including their own villas and apartments.

Over the weeks leading up to Christmas presents have been placed under the tree for the women and children of the local refuge. Erin Park residents decided a few years ago that they would have a secret Santa but rather than the usual giving of gifts to each other they decided for everyone to put $5 into the kitty along with the name of their preferred charity, the charity with the most nominations by Christmas Eve receives the money.

Erin Park residents will celebrate Christmas together on 22 December with a happy hour at 5pm followed by a traditional Christmas dinner. After dinner there will be festive songs sung to piano music. If residents have been especially good Santa will leave them a small gift on their door handle on Christmas Eve. “Christmas can be a very lonely time for some people, our residents have a wonderful community and we try to celebrate Christmas as a family”, said Christian Hansen, Village Manager.

A purpose-built retirement village Erin Park is home to 40 residents. The village features 32 one and two-bedroom apartments and extensive community facilities. As well as a strong sense of community, residents enjoy long term security, thanks to the future care options at Erin Park Rest Home and Hospital next door.
