NZU21 to Play Canterbury Tactix this Week

NZU21 to Play Canterbury Tactix this Week

18th January 2011

The NZU21 team went into camp today at the Pioneer Recreation Centre in
Christchurch and will have two hit-outs against the Canterbury Tactix as
part of their training and overall development this week.

On Wednesday 19th January (8.15pm - 9.30pm) and Thursday 20th January
(5.15pm - 6.30pm) the 24 talented youngsters will be vying to impress
the coaches and selectors in their first get together of the year as
they take on a new look Tactix squad for 2011.

The camp, which includes the National Emerging Talent Accelerant Squad,
aims to develop and educate the players of the expectations of High
Performance Netballers and will help motivate them as they prepare for
the tour against Australia in June.

The week will see the new-look coaching team of Janine Southby (coach)
and Julie Seymour (assistant coach) take the reins for the first time as
a coaching duo. They are both very excited to work with some of New
Zealand's extremely talented up-and-coming players.

"The squad has a lot of promising and determined players who are all
capable at playing at an elite level," said NZU21 coach Janine Southby.

"The games against the Canterbury Tactix will help us to show each of
the girls what it takes to go that one step further and play for a
franchise, something that some of the girls are already involved in but
may not have had much court time."

The camp finishes on Friday and both games against the Canterbury Tactix
will be open to the public and media.
