Fire Service Media Alert - Update as at 10am

The fire Service has responded to over 350 weather related incidents throughout the Northland, Auckland Waikato, Bay of Plenty regions since 6pm Friday.

There were 120 incidents in Northland, 120 in Auckland, 40 in Waikato, 75 in Bay of Plenty.

The following incidents reported earlier have been resolved:

• The people trapped in a tree at Pipiwai, Northland have all be successfully evacuated.

• A house at Onetangi, Waiheke Island collapsed down a cliff. The occupants were initially unaccounted for but have subsequently been found safe and well at a neighbour's residence.

• A house has been inundated by a land slip at Taneatua. The house is destroyed and two occupants, one of which is a child, have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

We are still dealing with a number of weather related incidents, mainly to flooding in houses, throughout the three regions but the workload had dropped considerably.
