The highest rated Superliner to be based in Australasia

Enjoy the Celebrity lifestyle onboard the highest rated Superliner to be based in Australasia

February 4, 2011 - When the five star Celebrity Century arrives in Auckland later this year, the elegant superliner will be the highest rated cruise ship* to be based in Australia and New Zealand.

The stylish Celebrity Century possesses classic ocean liner glamour, blended with innovative modern features, such as the first ever “ice bar” at sea (a liquid bar counter frozen into rock-hard ice), the Murano specialty restaurant (for the ultimate in fine dining) and museum quality art collections containing the works of contemporary artists of the calibre of Warhol, Picasso and Hockney.

The Celebrity-style service also begins as soon as guests step onboard, where they’re welcomed with a glass of complimentary champagne, setting the tone for the deluxe experience ahead.

One of the fastest growing major cruise lines, Celebrity Cruises and its 10 ship fleet have won a stack of major accolades, including being rated as “Best Premium Cruise line” by the UK’s Travel Weekly in January 2011. Celebrity Cruises has also been rated as one of the top cruise lines in the world in readers’ surveys such as the elite Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure and Frommers Guide. It will be the first time in almost three years since the cruise line has sailed in New Zealand waters, when Celebrity Century arrives in Auckland on December 12 this year.

“New Zealanders are definitely avid and discerning cruisers and we are delighted to offer our local passengers a new choice in upscale cruising, sailing conveniently from their doorsteps,” said Mark Kinchley, sales manager for Celebrity Cruises in New Zealand.

“Celebrity Cruises are consistently recognised for first-rate dining experiences, excellent service and fantastic accommodation, with extra special touches and almost half of the ship’s staterooms having balconies.”

Other enticing amenities on board Celebrity Century include Michael’s Lounge, a refined lounge with the atmosphere of a gentleman’s club; the indulgent AquaSpa with a Persian Garden steam room and decadent treatments including the 24-Karat Gold Facial; and the two storey Celebrity Theatre hosting lavish shows and theatrical productions.

For New Zealanders who would like to experience the glamour of sailing on Celebrity Century, Celebrity Cruises are offering special Early Bird deals until February 28, 2011. Save up to AU$900 per person* off Celebrity Century fares, with a 12 night Australia & New Zealand cruise sailing from Auckland priced from only AU$1799 per person*. Plus receive up to US$200* onboard credit per cabin to spend on extras like spa treatments and shore excursions.

As an added bonus New Zealanders will be able to depart from or conclude their cruise in Auckland on selected sailings with Celebrity Century, including 12 and 13 night New Zealand cruises sailing between Auckland and Sydney.

Other highlights during her 2011-2012 Australasian programme include:

Celebrity Century offers a special 13 night Christmas and New Year sailing from Sydney to Auckland on 24 December 2011.
• For the first time ever, Celebrity Cruises will perform a full circumnavigational sailing around Australia and New Zealand, which departs from Auckland and calls in at Sydney (overnight), Melbourne, Adelaide, Albany, Perth, Broome, Darwin, Cairns and Brisbane, among other destinations.
Celebrity Century will also make a maiden call in Bali.
