Mayor Ray Wallace continues to keep it local

Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace and councillors have held their first strategic planning session for the year at the Silverstream Retreat in the Hutt Valley.

This follows on from the precedent Mayor Wallace set last year of keeping the cost of these sessions to a minimum by holding them locally.

“It is important we don’t waste money on lavish venues and unnecessary expenses so like last year, I wanted to stay local to avoid having to spend money on staying overnight and travel.

“It also means Hutt Valley business benefits from the planning session,” he says.

Mayor Wallace came back from the planning session optimistic for the year ahead.

“This was an opportunity to sit down together and discuss important issues for our city such as the Making Places project, the upcoming Annual Plan, rates and governance.

“There was great energy and enthusiasm from my council colleagues during these discussions and I am looking forward to working together with them to make things happen for our city.”
