DivorceMe founders set the record straight

DivorceMe founders set the record straight [DivorceMe]

DivorceMe co-founders Aaron Pero and Andrew Bell have responded to claims from Family First who labelled their website as “tacky and destructive”.

The website has been designed to help Kiwis going through a divorce and Pero stresses that the website is not a fast track, and that those involved still have to go through the two year separation where they have had the chance to reconcile.

“You can’t just get divorced at the click of a button.
In a perfect world there would be a 'happily ever after story' for all couples, but we don't live in a perfect world and it’s a fact of life that one in three marriages end in divorce."

"We are trying to make it easier by assisting those going through the process. "I don’t see how the website is destructive, if anything, it helps people move on with their lives.”

“We have seen a great response to the website with a number of people already signing up for the service.”

Bell who has been admitted to the bar, has had experience with helping people with divorce through his pro bono work throughout his University education and following his graduation.

“I saw that people were apprehensive about the process hence putting it off. With the people I had helped, their marriages had broken down well beyond repair and the only thing delaying the divorce was the complexity of the process and the cost.”

“We definitely aren’t here to “promote family breakdown”, we are simply here to provide a convenient service for those who have been separated for two years and have been unable to reconcile their marriage.”

“It’s a matter of convenience and a way to approach the situation in a much less emotionally strenuous way.”
