Singapore Airlines Christchurch Earthquake Update
Christchurch Airport has now reopened, following the earthquake that struck the city on 22 February.
Passengers in Christchurch must be in possession of valid travel documents before proceeding to the airport and should plan additional journey time to the airport as a result of heavy traffic and limited public transport, as well as congestion at airport check-in. Passengers should contact their respective embassies for assistance in obtaining any necessary replacement travel documentation.
The following flights have been delayed and flight routes have been amended to include a technical stop in Auckland or Sydney (ALL TIMES LISTED ARE LOCAL):
SQ298 on Thursday 24 February,
originally scheduled to depart Christchurch at
1150hrs
(now re-designated as
SQ298D)
Rescheduled departure from Christchurch at
1400hrs 24 February, arriving in Sydney at 1505hrs
24 February.
Departs Sydney at 1620hrs 24
February, arriving in Singapore at 2125hrs 24
February.
SQ298 from Friday 25 February until
Sunday 27 February, originally scheduled to depart
Christchurch at 1150hrs
Rescheduled departure from
Christchurch at 1410hrs, arriving in Auckland at
1520hrs.
Departs Auckland at 1630hrs,
arriving in Singapore at 2155hrs.
Singapore Airlines continues to closely monitor the situation and updates on the status of flights will be provided as soon as information is available. Please do check our website regularly for updates.
Our airport office in Christchurch will be closed until further notice, due to damage sustained during the earthquake.

Customers are advised to confirm their accommodation and transportation arrangements in Christchurch before proceeding with their travel, as there is significant disruption to accommodation and transport infrastructure in Christchurch.

Singapore Airlines will waive administrative fees for refund, re-booking or re-routing, for customers holding confirmed tickets issued on or before 22 February 2011, for travel to and from Christchurch from 22 February to 6 March 2011 (both dates inclusive). The waiver also applies to KrisFlyer redemption tickets.
