St John transporting patients outside of Christchurch

St John transporting patients to centres outside Christchurch

St John is continuing to make arrangements to transport significant numbers of patients to locations outside of Christchurch including Auckland, Hamilton and Rotorua.

The emergency ambulance communications centre in Christchurch, which was evacuated after the earthquake, remains closed. All South Island calls are being handled by the communication centre in Auckland. St John have relocated Christchurch staff to work at the Auckland communications centre.

A key emphasis for us today is to manage rosters to ensure the right resources are in place for our ambulance service and in the welfare centres.

St John is continuing to monitor our logistical requirements and levels of medical supplies needed through the weekend and beyond.
