Birthday Celebrations at Thursday’s Rotorua Night Market
First Birthday Celebrations at this Thursday’s Rotorua Night Market
ROTORUA 01.03.11: Rotorua Night Market punters are in for a fun and lively evening this week as the popular market celebrates its first birthday.
Thursday’s event [3 March] promises a special night of entertainment, giveaways, store discounts, a children’s area, as well as the market’s usual offerings of the region’s best wares.
Rotorua District Council business partnerships manager Nick Dallimore says it is hard to believe a whole year has passed since the inaugural market, and he encourages locals to join in the first birthday celebrations.
“Many local businesses have come on board to ensure there are plenty of extra special activities and performances lined up for this special occasion.
“Local singers Alyana Powley and Murray Clark will provide fantastic entertainment throughout the market. We’ll also have ‘The Kids’ Corner’ set up for children to enjoy Hammy the Clown, bubble blowing, face painting, juggling, and lucky dips.
“There are birthday giveaways up for grabs, including stylised eco friendly bags with cool things inside for people who shop at any of the Heart of Tutanekai Street retailers and market stalls on the night.
“Retailers will also offer some very special in-store discount offers to show their appreciation of the community’s support over the last year.”
Mr Dallimore says the market has brought the city to life on Thursday nights between 5pm to 9pm for the past year.
“It’s been a great meeting place for the community and for national and international visitors to come together to share in the flavour of our city. The market has become a top spot to share a meal from any one of the fine eateries, and a welcoming environment for locals’ weekly shop.”
The Rotorua Night Market will be collecting donations to help support the Christchurch relief fund.
