Icebreaker Launches ‘Every Dollar for Christchurch’ Campaign

Merino adventure-wear company to donate every dollar from every purchase made at its own stores on Thursday to earthquake relief

Wellington, 2 March, 20011 – Icebreaker is to donate every dollar customers spend at its own stores on Thursday, March 3, to support the people of Christchurch in the wake of their devastating earthquake.

Thursday’s takings – the amount it cost Icebreaker to make the garments, as well as the profit margin – will be donated to the Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.

Total takings will be donated from all Icebreaker-owned TouchLab stores and outlet stores in New Zealand, Canada, Australia and the United States, as well as the company’s US online store.

The campaign will run for 57 hours, from the time when Icebreaker’s retail stores in New Zealand open on Thursday morning to the time when Icebreaker’s e-commerce store closes on Thursday night.

The money raised by the Every Dollar for Christchurch campaign will help the Red Cross to provide essential support and humanitarian assistance to Christchurch.

Icebreaker’s global headquarters are in Wellington, and it has regional offices and a warehouse in Christchurch. Its staff and their families were fortunate to avoid injury in the earthquake, but all five retailers that carry Icebreaker garments in Christchurch were severely damaged.
