AmeriCARna got Lower Hutt
all revved up
Thousands of people came out to celebrate the beauty of American cars at Lower Hutt’s AmeriCARna festival and Mayor Ray Wallace was impressed with the turn out.
“With AmeriCARna in town Lower Hutt was buzzing with energy which I think shows what a fantastic place our city is to hold big events.
“Crowds at the Friday Night Cruise on Jackson Street are estimated at more than 5000 and even more came along to the Country Fair to join in the fun.
“We also got great crowds at the Rockin’ The Hutt event with families flocking to the CBD to join in the festivities.”
Two thirds of the 320 cars that took part in AmeriCARna were from outside the Wellington region which meant the event attracted plenty of out-of-town visitors.
“Feedback I received from AmeriCARna participants who had travelled to take part, was that this year’s event in Lower Hutt was the ‘best yet’
“This is a great result for our city and I want to thank all those who helped make this event such a success.”
