Plunket Shield points confirmed for earthquake affected match
New Zealand Cricket today confirmed that Canterbury and Wellington would each be allocated three points from the Plunket Shield match that was abandoned as a result of the Christchurch earthquake on 22 February.
New Zealand Cricket, the six Major Associations and the New Zealand Cricket Players Association have unanimously agreed to this allocation of points after the round five match was abandoned last week.
This now places the Canterbury Wizards on 15 points and the Wellington Firebirds on 13, both chasing Shield leader Central Stags on 26 points.
The dates for rounds six and seven of the Plunket Shield were adjusted earlier this week to provide the Canterbury Wizards with additional time to recover from the impact of the devastating earthquake and to protect the integrity of the competition.
