Westpac Sponsors Community Housing Conference

Westpac is the major sponsor for the fourth national conference of umbrella group Community Housing Aotearoa, set to take place next week on 22-23 March in Henderson, Auckland.

The conference programme begins with keynote speeches from Minister of Housing Phil Heatley, Auckland Mayor Len Brown, Jeremy Gardiner the CEO of Te Runanga o Ngati Awa and former Housing New Zealand chief executive Michael Lennon.

Westpac’s David McLean, General Manager of Wealth, Insurance, Private and Institutional Banking, will headline the second day with a presentation about affordable housing.

Community housing organisations sit at the edge of social housing changes announced in December, with further details on changes to the Government’s housing policy set to be released in April.

Biography:

David McLean is Westpac’s General Manager of Wealth, Insurance, Private & Institutional Banking in New Zealand. Before joining Westpac, David worked as a lawyer in private practice and as in-house counsel for Natwest, before joining the Capital Markets Group of Southpac/National Bank in 1988. Subsequently he joined Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in 1994, and during this period established a branch of Deutsche Bank and was New Zealand Resident Branch Manager. He joined Westpac in February 1999. David is Chairman of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand (INFINZ), and serves on the boards of the NZ US Council and the New Zealand Institute for the Study of Competition and Regulation.
