Aces announce 26 man squad for Champions League

Auckland Cricket Media Release - Aces announce 26 man squad for Champions League

MEDIA RELEASE
Monday 28 March 2011

The Auckland Aces selectors have announced a 26 strong preliminary training squad for the Champions League Twenty20 in September.

With details for the tournament, including playing dates, still to be confirmed the squad announcement is really a chance for players, coaching staff and selectors to plan for the winter ahead.

The 26 players named include all those who were involved with the HRV Cup campaign this season. That means imports Jimmy Adams and Andre Adams are in the mix as well as Australian Rob Quinney who qualified by playing the last round robin game against Central Districts.

The squad will be trimmed to 20 on the 10th July with the final 15 to go to the tournament announced a month later on the 9th August. That gives the side six weeks of preparation ahead of the projected tournament dates from 23rd September to 7th October.

With some of the squad having off-season contracts overseas, there will be a variety of local programmes and monitoring systems in place to help all players be in the best possible condition for the tournament.
