Bikers to ride for The Wellington City Mission
Bikers to ride for The Wellington City Mission
Motorcyclists are invited to take their bikes out on Saturday April 16 for a charity run in aid of The Wellington City Mission.
BRONZ Wellington Inc’s Charity Ride will travel from Lower Hutt to Wellington City collecting Easter Eggs for those who are currently on the Mission for Families programme, one of the four community service programmes administered by The Wellington City Mission.
BRONZ Wellington Inc came about after the ACC bike protest in November 2009, our President being the lead force in this event and led to the re-establishment of the orginisation, after BRONZ had not been active in the Capital for many years. Once the dust of the protest had settled there was a meeting held with other senior heads of BRONZ, and BRONZ Wellington Inc. was born!
With the dedicated assistance of unpaid volunteers we organise many events that promote our political advocacy stance to protect our rights and equality as members of society who have made a mode of transport choice. Further to that, we also encourage ongoing skills training, safe riding techniques, and aim to help develop motorcycling within the community. Organising events and rides for charity is a very important aspect of that and a long tradition of all BRONZ organisations in New Zealand since the late 70’s.
With the reactivation of Wellington BRONZ our local pride kicked in and we all agreed when reforming traditions we would honor local charities – Wellington only based organisations that need our support. Therefore when looking for a benefactor for our Easter Chocolate run. The Wellington City Mission was a unanimous choice. As BRONZ Wellington Inc. we are proud to make a difference.
The Wellington City Missions Marketing Manager, Leanne Thompson, was delighted to be approached by BRONZ Wellington Inc. “The Mission chooses strategic partners that really understand the value of our work within the community. The enthusiastic and professional team at BRONZ want to raise funds for The Mission through this special event, but they also want to make sure that our families receive a special Easter treat this year. That sort of thing really means a lot to people who are struggling at the moment”
Registration for the ride is $10 (this includes a ride badge) and opens at 10.00am April 16th at the Avalon Duck Pond where donations of Easter Eggs will be collected. The ride will depart at 11.00am and will ride to Queens Wharf under the sails for a presentation to The Wellington City Mission.
