Lakes Leisure Welcomes New Community Programmes Coordinator
Lauren Moyes has joined Lakes Leisure
as the new Community Programmes Coordinator. She replaces
Alana Talbot who originally started with the Queenstown
Events Centre in 2006 before becoming a part of the Lakes
Leisure team on the company’s inception in 2008.
Originally from Tauranga, Lauren is known to many in Queenstown through her role as a guide for Active New Zealand where she has worked periodically since 2005. During this time Lauren also managed the Kokiri Lodge Outdoor Education Centre and taught at Riccarton High School.
Lauren’s has an extensive recreation based teaching background, a Diploma of Teaching and a Bachelor of Physical Education making her an ideal person to fill this busy community focused role.
Lakes Leisure CEO Fiona McKissock said the Community Programmes Coordinator role was integral to Lakes Leisure’s achieving its objectives around contributing to the health and wellbeing of our wider community.
“The Community Programmes Coordinator looks after all of our community based programmes that work to get our whole community active and engaged in recreation. Lauren will be working a lot with children but we also run programmes for the elderly, mums and babies and the overweight with exciting new programmes for teens also in the pipeline. The Leisurelys programme we run for the older folk is gaining momentum and the more we can do for these types of sectors in our community the more confident I am that we are getting results. Lauren is stepping into a really busy role.
“Lakes Leisure is committed to delivering the best possible sport, recreation and leisure services to our community and Lauren’s skills will be invaluable to our continuing to deliver high quality programmes to our community in the future,” she said.
Lauren will run all the community sports leagues, programmes including the school holiday programme, All Sorts and Super Sports, The Leisurelys, tennis for kids and rock climbing courses.
