Put Your Game Face On At MOTAT

Put Your Game Face On At MOTAT

MOTAT is in game mode these school holidays so bring the kids along to enjoy an interactive and fun filled programme where they will have hands on experience with ancient games, modern games, fads and crazes, and retro and modern gaming technology.

MOTAT’s ‘Game Changer’ April school holiday experience will have the kids amazed as they learn how games have developed throughout the years.

Tony O’Sullivan, Museum Experience Coordinator for MOTAT, says this experience will give kids a newfound appreciation for the technology available to them in the twenty-first century and have them asking questions about what role games play in their own lives.

“Kids won’t believe the kind of games that people used to play throughout history with such little resources. With something as simple as a handful of rocks and a stick, hours of fun could be had.

“How and why games have changed so much over the years is a fascinating story and an educational journey kids will have lots of fun taking part in,” says Mr O’Sullivan.

Enjoy a blast from the past with retro games and some old favourites including Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedge Hog and Super Mario Brothers.

The EB Games @ Play area will feature an array of retro computer games from the 70s, 80s and 90s through to the very latest in gaming technology with a brand new game, PlayStation® Move Heroes! The game is packed with epic fun and mayhem with Ratchet, Clank, Jak, Daxter and Sly joining forces in a series of galactic adventures.

Kids can also show off their singing and guitar skills at the MOTAT ‘Talent Tent’ with SingStar®Guitar – exclusive to PlayStation®3.

The holiday experience will explain the changes to board and strategy games as a result of social and technological changes in the world. Kids will have a blast challenging each other to a game of snakes and ladders or monopoly.

Other activities include a focus on fads and crazes over the past 50 years, where kids can learn what made these games so popular and even try them out for themselves.

Visitors can even create their own game or alter an existing one to cater to their every gaming need. They can get creative and take what they have learnt about games in history to make the ultimate game of the future!
