Rural Companies Co-Ordinate Efforts To Raise $152,000
The country's leading agribusinesses worked together in March to facilitate donations from farmer clients into the Christchurch Earthquake Fund.
Rural retailers, PGG Wrightson, Elders, ATS, Farmlands and livestock companies affiliated with the New Zealand Stock and Station Association, will be banking almost $152,000 worth of donations on behalf of farmer clients, ensuring the whole amount is transferred to the Earthquake Trust account during April.
Other rural companies were invited to participate but chose not to support the initiative.
The initiative allowed farmers the option of contributing cash donations or proceeds directly from livestock sales during the month, and had been established in response to a large number of requests from rural businesses and farmers.
