DCM Bulletin - Well-being Project Launch
Well-being Project Launch
Wednesday 13 April
A new intensive case-management pilot project working with homeless people in Wellington City was launched at Thistle Hall yesterday.
“Initially the project will focus on 10 people who have been idenitified as being furthest from having their needs met and accessing services,” says Alice Peycke, Practice Development Manager of the project.
“The one year pilot will help us further identify needs for people, find solutions and capture learning which is essential for the community.”
Te Roopu Aramuka Wharoaroa, which means “to open the way for others to follow” will work with priority people to support them to identify their strengths, plan actions, and bring together resources to move towards their health and well-being goals. The service will be integrated, coordinated and individually tailored to each person.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Health Innovation Fund.
“This is another step towards promoting the housing first approach that DCM takes, and we are pleased to be involved in the project,” says Stephanie McIntyre, director of DCM.
The partnership has brought together a virtual team comprised of Community Alcohol and Drugs Service (CADS); Team for Assertive Community Treatment (TACT), Downtown Community Ministry (DCM) and Te Aro Health Centre, with numerous other agencies assisting and supoprting.
