The Breeze Farewells Kerry Smith: Tribute Show - Friday 29 April

Kerry Smith lost her courageous battle with melanoma last Wednesday, 20 April.

Kerry was a much-loved colleague and an integral part of The Breeze family, having been with the radio station as the 10am to 2pm announcer since its launch five years ago.

To celebrate her life and work, The Breeze will be broadcasting a Tribute Show to Kerry Smith on Friday 29 April from 9am. Breeze announcer and good friend Mark Leishman will host the morning and has invited special friends and colleagues from Kerry’s career to share their memories live in studio.

Programme Director Ian Avery says, “This is a chance to truly celebrate the amazing career and life of our much-loved colleague and friend. We have been inundated with requests from the Kiwi entertainment community to come and join us to share their stories and pay tribute to Kerry.”

Kerry was a true New Zealand entertainment icon. She was a talented and popular radio host, whose career included work on Easy Listening I, Radio Pacific and RadioLIVE before The Breeze, and her extensive TV and entertainment career, spanning five decades, included her role as sharp-tongued editor Magda in the 80’s TV series Gloss and hosting home improvement show Changing Rooms.

Throughout her career, Kerry Smith has always been loved by her fans and much admired by her colleagues for her wonderful personality, talent and professionalism.
