Meeting Over Hawke’s Bay Weather Bomb

This photo depicts Central Hawke's Bay (CHB) Mayor, Peter Butler, talking to Blackhead Beach residents and local farmers affected by last week's weather bomb on Saturday 30 April 2011.

Hon David Carter, Minister of Agriculture, and Member for Wairarapa, National Party, MP John Hayes were with Mayor Butler to assess damages after the severe storm, and offer local citizens much needed support. The Central Hawke's Bay State of Emergency Declaration remains in force as of 8.00am this morning.

The secondphoto shows just how much damage a farm on the CHB coast has suffered. It was reported that one farm lost as much as 70% of it productive land in slips.
