Acting Chief Executive for Regional Council

For immediate release: 17 May, 2011

Bay of Plenty Regional Council has appointed current Group Manager Strategic Development Mary-Anne Macleod as Acting Chief Executive.

Ms Macleod will take up the position from Monday 6 June when current Chief Executive Bill Bayfield leaves for his new position at Canterbury Regional Council. The recruitment process for the Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s new Chief Executive is underway.

Ms Macleod is expected to be in the acting role for several months. She has been in her current role with the Regional Council for several years, having moved from Central Government. She has previously held the acting Chief Executive role at Council.

Ms Macleod said that the Council was currently in a very good place.

“Looking forward, I believe my role will be ensuring that continues and addressing any unforeseen challenges that might arise,” Ms Macleod said.

“I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity and challenges.”
