Porirua Sister City Gives to Christchurch
Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett presented a $4500 donation from Porirua's Japanese Sister City Nishio to Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker yesterday.
"It's an extremely generous gesture by Nishio City who wanted to recognise what Christchurch has been through - and still is going through - and it also demonstrates the strong relationship between our city and Nishio."

He says the donation was made even though Japan is still reeling from the devastating off-shore quake and tsunami.
"Japan is very aware of the damage and disruption earthquakes cause and I was pleased to pass on their genuine empathy and concern to the Mayor of Christchurch yesterday."
Mayor Leggett says the money would go into the Mayoral Earthquake Relief Fund.
