Optimum Nutrition signs deal with Highlanders
The Highlanders have secured the sponsorship of global supplement company Optimum Nutrition.
Optimum Nutrition, which was founded in the United States in 1986, will now be the official supplier of sports nutrition to the team.
The Highlanders’ sports dietician, Kirsty Fairbairn, says the team have been using Optimum Nutrition products since their pre-season build-up began in December, and she’s impressed.

“Optimum Nutrition have a great reputation in the sports community – and I can see why. Getting the right fuel into our players can really boost their stamina and strength, helping them train – and play – at their peak. Good-quality supplements like these are a key ingredient in any athlete’s success.”
The Highlanders’ commercial manager, Mike Kerr, says the deal will also be beneficial for the Super Rugby franchise as a whole.
“This sponsorship arrangement is a perfect synergy for us. Not only will it provide us with valuable financial support, but it will also support our players on a practical level, every day.”
Optimum Nutrition is sold in more than 70 countries and sponsors high-profile teams and athletes all over the world, including runners, bodybuilders, sailors – and rugby teams.
“We’re delighted to add the Highlanders to our carefully selected stable of athletes,” says Optimum Nutrition’s Regional Director, Asia Pacific Barry Fitzsimons. “The Highlanders epitomise our commitment to integrity and excellence, and our slogan: ‘True Strength’. They’re always an exciting team to watch and we’re happy to be able to support them, on and off the field.”
