Hooked on Seafood opens its hatches to the Wellington public
Hooked on Seafood hopes to get more fish on the menu for Wellingtonians as it opens to the public today. The new food outlet, opening at 1pm today, will give commuters, local workers and visitors to the city, a new option for a premium takeaway meal, or fresh seafood options to take home and cook themselves.
Steve Tarrant, general manager of Moana Pacific Fisheries, says: “We’ve been on the fish retail scene for several years, but the opening of Hooked on Seafood is exciting as this is our first takeaway venture in Wellington. We want people to experience amazing seafood at great prices and who better to get it from than people who truly know seafood?
“Fish should be a staple in every Kiwi’s diet and we’re making sure that there are plenty of healthy alternatives on our menus. We’re offering a number of grilled options, as well as freshly tossed salads as well as chips and a batter coating. Hooked on Seafood is all about convenient choices.”
Takeaway menu highlights include Thai fish cakes, Mussel fritters and a tasty salmon wrap. Meal deals will start at $9.50 and there will also be individual food options and children’s meals available.
Fresh seafood options will be based on seasonal catches but will include plenty of regular favourites such as Tarakihi, Snapper, Blue Cod and Groper. Moana’s clever sealed packaging keeps fresh fish fillets chilled, super fresh and fragrance free, meaning commuters can be confident that their dinner will remain just as fresh, all the way home.
Hooked on Seafood will also offer the convenient new “Garnish to Go” packs. With these you pick your fillet, choose a garnish, have it sealed in a special bag that’s ready for you to take home and cook, with easy instructions, no mess, and best of all, no dishes.
Mr Tarrant adds: “Regardless of whether people want to cook up their own storm, or let someone else have dishes to clean, Hooked on Seafood gives them the choice.
As well as a fresh new menu, the cart has a whole new look, designed specifically with an oceanic theme in mind.
Hooked on Seafood will initially be open from 10am till 7.30pm on weekdays. Starting 10th September, it will also open on Saturdays and during Westpac Stadium events from 12pm to 7.30pm.
