Buses Replace Some Trains this Queens Birthday Weekend

Buses will replace some trains this Queens Birthday weekend to allow KiwiRail and Auckland Transport to continue upgrading the rail network and prepare it for electrification.

Buses replacing trains on Saturday 4 June
Southern Line: Papakura to Otahuhu
Eastern Line: Papakura to Britomart via Glen Innes
On Sunday and Monday, buses will replace all trains on the full network.

Replacement rail bus services will be provided during the closures and special timetables will be in place for them. For full details go to www.maxx.co.nz Details will also be available at stations.

Rugby fans going to Eden Park on Saturday for the Blues vs. Chiefs game can travel on special event trains to the game. There are also alterations to the western line service between 6.00pm and 10.30 pm due to the rugby game and customers should check MAXX for details.

The works include general track maintenance, extending rail platforms and upgrade works in preparation for electrification.

We understand replacing buses with trains causes some disruption and work hard to minimise the impacts wherever possible.

Given the significant amount of work to be done, closures on Auckland's rail network will be a regular occurrence for the foreseeable future. Works are generally scheduled to minimise disruption to peak-hour commuter services and carried out at weekends, public holidays, and evenings when there are usually fewer people travelling.
