Stewart Island motel scoops hospitality award
Brett and Jenny Twaddle’s exceptional hospitality at their Bay Motel on Stewart Island has earned them the prestigious 2011 AA Supreme Host of the Year Award.
Assisted by an enthusiastic motel manager, Robin Campbell, the secret to the Twaddle’s hospitality success appears to be the priority they each place on ensuring their guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay.
Mr and Mrs Twaddle, who have owned and operated the Bay Motel since February 2008, say Mr Campbell’s enthusiasm ensures they always go the extra mile to assist their visitors.
“Robin provides our guests with superior service, local knowledge, recommended activities and becomes their friend and confidante as well,” says Mrs Twaddle.
Motel Association of New Zealand Chief Executive, Michael Baines says he is delighted that the award went to Bay Motel.
“Stewart Island is a New Zealand ‘gem’ and it is fantastically serviced by the Bay Motel. We can take real pride in knowing that one of our most compelling locations is also remembered by visitors because of the great hospitality shown to them,” says Mr Baines.
“All credit must go to Brett, Jenny and Robin, for adding that something ‘extra’ to the Stewart Island experience,” he says.
AA Tourism General Manager Marketing, Rebecca Cherry, says the Bay Motel will no doubt make anyone visiting Stewart Island feel welcome.
“Stewart Island should be added to everyone’s must-do list to visit and from guest feedback, the Bay Motel is certainly a recommended place to stay,” says Ms Cherry.
“I would like to congratulate each of our finalists for their hard work and commitment to delivering a better visitor experience,” she says.
The two other finalists in the running for the top award included Radfords Lakeview Motel in Te Anau and the Pacific Coast Motel Lodge in Whakatane.
