Ziptrek Twilight Tours back by demand
Zipping through the forest canopy high above Queenstown between eco-built tree huts while watching the sun set over snow-capped mountains sounds like paradise.
That thrill is reality in Queenstown once more as Ziptrek Ecotours brings back, by popular demand, its magical Twilight Tour. The tour offers guests a night-time flying fox experience like no other.
The exhilarating adventure begins atop Bob’s Peak beside the Skyline Gondola where zippers are welcomed to the Ziptrek Guest Services Tree House, complete with exotic New Zealand macrocarpa timber, cedar clad roofing and twinkling fairy lights.
They are then led on an interpretative guided tour through the forest canopy by helmet light and as twilight descends ‘zippers’ enjoy spectacular views across the crystal clear waters of Lake Wakatipu and towards The Remarkables mountain range.

Ziptrek Ecotours Marketing & Sales Manager Nicky Busst said Twilight Tours offered an adventure experience that was “wonderfully unique” in Queenstown.
“Zipping through the forest at dusk is a pretty special moment, with the mountains bathed in the soft pink light of a winter sunset and Queenstown’s CBD below coming alive for the evening,” she said.
“Ziptrek is about harmonious integration with nature and having fun - and there’s hardly a better time to appreciate our surroundings than at twilight.
“When we introduced Twilight Tours last year guests were absolutely blown away with the sheer magic of it all.
“This year, to ensure guests are kept warm throughout their journey, our sustainably built tree huts have been fully decked out with solar-powered heaters.”
The Twilight Tour takes place on Ziptrek’s Moa Tour and is available from now until late August. It is suitable for families, conference and incentive groups and individuals.
Twilight Tours cost $99 and are available every evening, departing from 5pm from the top of Skyline. Limited spaces are available so bookings are essential.
