RSA donates $130K to Christchurch
National President Don McIver will hand over to the Red Cross Appeal and Canterbury District RSA $130,000 in donations from RSAs around the country and ex-service organisations worldwide at a function tonight at Papanui RSA in Christchurch.
“This collection is the largest in living memory and affirms the RSA’s ethos of ‘People Helping People’”, says Don McIver.
The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association launched an Appeal after the 4 September 2010 Earthquake and raised $32,000 for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal and after 22 February a further $100,000 was raised for the Canterbury District to assist veterans and ex-service personnel in the Christchurch region.
The RSA movement has been hit hard with three RSA clubs closed as a result of damage: Christchurch, New Brighton and Sumner Redcliffs.
