First International Tour win for PureBlack Racing
First International Tour win for PureBlack Racing as Scott Lyttle wins Tour de Toona
Auckland, New Zealand, 11 July, 2011 – PureBlack Racing’s Scott Lyttle has finished today’s stage in the yellow jersey and is the overall GC winner for the 2011 Tour de Toona in Pennsylvania. PureBlack Racing, who held the yellow leader’s jersey for the entire race, controlled the four-day tour from start to finish. Lyttle, Roman van Uden and Dan Barry all won stages to give PureBlack Racing its first tour win in their debut international season.
Today’s stage was a Criterium race in downtown Altoona and just as they have done throughout the tour the team sat on the front of the peloton controlling the tempo from start to finish.
Carl Williams, Sports Director of PureBlack Racing said, “Chris Baldwin from Bissell Pro Cycling, one of Americas most established and successful teams, tried throughout the race to get a break and threaten our hold on the yellow jersey as he has done all tour. But the guys covered their every move and rode superbly to win the tour today. It's a huge result for the team our sponsors and our friends and family. It’s our biggest success to date.”
Today’s final Criterium stage came down to a sprint finish with Roman Van Uden grabbing his second podium place for the tour by finishing third.
PureBlack Racing finished second on overall team GC.
