Residents asked what could make Rotorua better

ROTORUA 13.07.11: Rotorua District Council (RDC) is inviting local residents to give their views on what could make Rotorua a better place by taking part in a short survey before the council starts preparing its draft 2012-22 Long Term Plan.

RDC social research officer Caroline Matangi said the survey had already attracted more than 300 participants but the council wanted to hear from more people.

“To ensure a balanced geographic spread across the district we’re particularly keen to hear from residents in lakeside communities, Whakarewarewa, the central city, Ngapuna, Fordlands, Selwyn Heights, Utuhina, Ohinemutu and Western Heights. At the moment these areas are under-represented among those who have already completed a survey form.”

Ms Matangi said that as an incentive to encourage participation there were a number of prizes up for grabs for a few lucky people who complete the survey.

The council’s Long Term Plan pre-consultation survey can be completed online on the council website www.rdc.govt.nz (under ‘Have Your Say’), and at the District Library, RDC Civic Centre, City Focus. It will also be at the Rotorua district council stand at this weekend’s Home Show at the Energy Events Centre.

All survey responses will remain completely confidential and participants must be Rotorua residents over 15 years of age.
