New Southern Cancer Network service directory launched

A new service directory launched by the Southern Cancer Network offers a one-stop shop for people wanting to know more about services available in the South Island for people with cancer.

Southern Cancer Network Manager Annie Bermingham says when people experience a cancer diagnosis, access to quality information is one of the things they and their families seek to help navigate their cancer journey

The Cancer Service Directory http://www.southerncancernetwork.org.nz/ is a collaboration between the Southern Cancer Network and the Cancer Society, who collected data on the various support services available throughout the South Island.

“With 23 categories ranging from government health organisations and cancer treatment centres to home support and exercise and relaxation, the easy to use directory aims to help people throughout the South Island find out about services available in their local area and in the main centres where some of their treatment may occur,” Annie says.

People can search by keyword, category or region and the directory provides an overview of the services as well as contact details, she says.

The site also contains contact details for the Cancer Society’s Cancer Information Nurses, who provide information on cancer and cancer treatments through the 0800 CANCER (226 237) Cancer Information Helpline.
