Age Concern's Patron's Award Open

Age Concern's Patron's Award Open

July 25, 2011

Media Release – Age Concern

Do you have a grinning Granny, a Great-Aunt - perhaps you have a picture alongside your gorgeous Grandchild? Or maybe you're a media professional who regularly photographs older people?

If so, then we have the competition for you – Age Concern New Zealand's annual Patron's Award is now open. This year the award is being run on Facebook and we're inviting both members of the public and the media to upload photos to our wall. Just search Facebook for Age Concern on Willis Street, Wellington and you will find all the information you'll need to take part. Make sure you "like" us while you're there!

We're looking for images that challenge negative stereotypes about older people and show mature people engaged in rich and rewarding lives.

We're offering finalists the chance to meet our Patron Judge Ken Mason and receive a framed certificate. We'll also have a selection of other goodies for our category winners. Most of all you will be doing your bit to show you value and respect our older people and stand with Age Concern in our fight to help prevent elder abuse and neglect.

We have two categories to enter; one for the media and another for the public. Each section has slightly different rules – so make sure you read the fine-print. You can read the rules in the "Professional/Media" and "Public" Albums by clicking on "Photos".

Finalists will be determined by online votes and category winners will be decided on September 30 2011, by Age Concern Staff, Board members and selected guests at the International Day of Older Persons celebration at our National Office in Wellington.
