The Ultimate All Blacks Experience

The Backingblack Fan Club Has Created The Ultimate All Blacks Experience

BackingBlack is the All Blacks fan club, founded and supported by Telecom since 2009. Having 100% backing from the New Zealand Rugby Union, BackingBlack encourages fans of all ages to show their support of the team.

To help fans rally behind the All Blacks, BackingBlack is building a physical home in Auckland’s Viaduct, as well as taking the BackingBlack experience on the road, visiting towns all over New Zealand.

“BackingBlack HQ” is a place where All Blacks fans can go to enjoy, support and maybe even talk to the All Blacks – there is no other space like it.

Situated in the heart of Auckland’s Viaduct at 115 Customs Street West, the BackingBlack HQ will be open daily from 24 September 2011, and will boast a jam-packed schedule of events and activities to allow fans a truly unique All Blacks experience in Auckland.

Caroline Booth, Sponsorship Manager, Telecom says “BackingBlack HQ will deliver the best FREE All Blacks fan experience around. There is so much planned for the space in the Viaduct, and we are really excited about welcoming passionate rugby fans from New Zealand and around the globe to BackingBlack HQ to show their support for the greatest rugby team in the world! It will be absolutely buzzing, with loads of fun and entertainment for everyone to enjoy.”

The clubhouse-inspired lounge within HQ will be complete with big screens, live music and DJ’s, the latest Telecom technology, food and drink, exhibitions, All Blacks appearances, fan competitions and so much more.

To kick off, legendary All Blacks photographer Peter Bush will be opening his ‘Hard on The Heels’ photography exhibition on September 24. The exhibition will be on display at HQ until the end of October.

There will also be a surprise for all who walk inside. All Blacks will appear to walk out of the walls and pose for photos next to fans as part of a virtual All Blacks experience, connecting fans to some of the team in a fun and unique way. Free wireless Internet will be available for those who need their Twitter or Facebook fix as well as a variety of Telecom’s latest devices to play with.

And the rest of the country won’t miss out on this action either! A Travelling BackingBlack HQ is set to tour 17 towns starting on 17 September. This taste of HQ is a chance for everyone from Kaitaia to Invercargill to really get behind the team and show their love for the All Blacks.

The Travelling HQ will include five enormous inflatable rugby themed games, which could pit mums and dads versus kids, friends against friends, and even neighbours against neighbours! Loads of prizes will be handed out throughout the day, and Bernie the BackingBlack Van will be there to capture local fans’ pledges of support to the team.

With many more activities and content to be revealed over the coming weeks, BackingBlack HQ and Travelling HQ will become one-stop-shops for the most unique All Blacks interaction in New Zealand. For a full schedule of events keep checking the BackingBlack website and Facebook page.
