COKE Rugbyfest fever grows!
COKE Rugbyfest fever grows!
In the hours counting down to the Rugby World Cup 2011 quarter-final match being broadcast live into COKE Rugbyfest @ Hagley, Cantabrian Captain Graham Hickman will strike up the New Zealand Army Band.
This will signal the start of the free Rugby themed entertainment spectacular being staged in the RWC 2011 Christchurch Fanzone in North Hagley Park on Sunday 9th October.
Organisors are anticipating a crowd of around 40,000 fans will come to the park to experience the excitement of the RWC 2011 quarter-final matches being broadcast live on two giant super-screens.
The
entertainment will begin at 4.00pm and MC for the event,
MORE FM’s Simon Barnett will share the stage with
some of Canterbury’s favourite broadcast personalities and
sport stars, including Rugby legend Todd Blackadder.
The New Zealand Army Band is just
part of a lineup which includes one of Christchurch’s most
famous bands, Zed, who are reuniting for the first
time since 2005. Band member Ben Campbell says they knew
COKE Rugbyfest@Hagley was the right time and right
event for the reunion.
A stand out highlight
promises to be a Kiwi music medley from The United
Utilities of Christchurch Band, specially formed for
this event by 15 musicians and singers from the Christchurch
Salvation Army, Police Force, Fire Service, St John, the
New Zealand Army and the Royal New Zealand Navy..
The “totally Canterbury” production will be topped off by performances by high energy groups including all girl hip hop group, Revelation Dance Crew, award winning All Star Pride Cheer Team and the legendary Pounamu Ngai Tahu Kapa Haka Group.
Fans can expect the night of Rugby themed entertainment to culminate in a not to be missed visual spectacular.
