A Hive of Rugby Hype at The Palms
The recent reopening of The Palms Shopping Centre has given locals a much needed shopping destination and entertainment hub which has recently become the eastern suburbs’ adopted home of rugby.
World Cup revellers are treated to a hive of rugby activity in-centre from live screenings of the Rugby World Cup games to a school holiday interactive Rugby Challenge, which will have kids living and breathing the game.
The Rugby Challenge will provide kids with the opportunity to test their skills through an Xbox All Blacks rugby game, for the chance to win rugby memorabilia such as authentic Rugby World Cup tops, balls and more. The Rugby Challenge commences on Monday 17 October and will run through to Friday 22 October, 11am to 2pm daily.
There are daily winners, runner ups and spot prizes. The ultimate winner with the highest game score will receive a grand rugby prize worth over $1,000. The grand prize includes a $500 of authentic Rugby World Cup gear, $500 cash, the Xbox All Blacks rugby challenge game, and four tickets to the official Christchurch fan zone for the final game.
Watching the world’s best teams in action on big screens at The Palms’ restaurant and bar marquee brings the games to life and community together in a great party atmosphere. Fox & Ferret have a bar inside the marquee, while heaters and plenty of seating ensures comfortable and enjoyable viewing of the un-missable quarter finals and final matches.
The Palms Shopping Centre manager Keryn Ward said, “There is a lot of excitement brewing around the suburbs with locals showing their support for their favourite teams. The marquee has been a popular venue and provides an entertaining spot for people to enjoy the rugby hype.”
“There are plenty of exciting developments at The Palms with some of our largest retailers opening soon. We have also been talking to and connecting with our customers at every opportunity to answer any queries about the work that has taken place in centre before reopening. The sentiment is that they are all happy to be back in their local mall.”
Reading Cinemas will reopen with a VIP launch event on Wednesday 16 November. Reading Cinemas’ reopening will be followed by Farmers, Dick Smith, Cotton On, Amazon and Gloria Jeans, which are all due to open before the end of the year.
