Dream Becomes A Reality For $1 Million Winning Wheel
Winner
Sam Flipp from Manawatu has just won an incredible $1 million on Lotto’s Winning Wheel in Wellington tonight, making the young man’s dream of travel an immediate reality.
The 22-year-old from Himitanga near Foxton has been in a wheelchair since he was eight years old, due to Friedreichs ataxia, a rare degenerative disease, so his good friend Ben spun the wheel for him.
Sam buys a Lotto ticket every week, on his usual visit to Palmerston North.
Also in the audience at Avalon Studios, cheering on Sam and Ben, were family and friends from New Zealand, and a sister who had come over from Australia especially to support Sam on his big night.
Sam loves playing X-Box, playing music, his body art, TV, movies and gardening, but the most important item on his wish-list is a trip to L.A and Vegas – flying First Class!
“Sam has been putting $20 away every week for his dream trip since he was 21, and now his dream is about to come true,” says mum Jeanette.
This is the first $1 million win on the Winning Wheel since September 2009.
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet. Players win a luxury weekend for two in Wellington, with a shopping trip with a stylist to get a new outfit for the live Lotto draw.
Sam and Ben weren’t so keen on shopping with a stylist, so they bought All Black rugby shirts in honour of the final tomorrow night – even though Sam is not a huge rugby fan!
Tonight’s Winning Wheel was sold at A & L Freeman's Bookshop, Thorndon, Wellington. The serial number is 245-11163178-20xx.
Anyone who bought their ticket from the above winning store should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet.
