New Zealand’s largest Christmas gift appeal needs you

New Zealand’s largest Christmas gift appeal needs you

The Salvation Army is urging Kiwis to start their Christmas shopping early and drop their gifts into their local Kmart store to help support New Zealand’s largest Christmas gift Appeal. The annual appeal starts on 16 November and runs until Christmas Eve aiming to collect more than 35, 000 gifts this year.

Salvation Army spokesperson Major Robbie Ross is encouraging New Zealanders to revisit the spirit of giving. “We want Kiwis to connect with the idea of wishing for something for Christmas – but not for themselves, rather for others in their local community who may not be as fortunate”.

To participate in the Appeal, simply place a gift under the Christmas Wishing Tree in any Kmart store across New Zealand. Take a gift tag from the tree to identify the age and gender of a suitable recipient and place it with your gift. Gifts do not have to be purchased at Kmart.

Alternatively, you can make a cash contribution to the Appeal at any Kmart store register or online at http://wishingtree.kmart.co.nz

Cash contributions are converted into Kmart gift cards, which are then distributed by The Salvation Army.
