Botanica to give away 50 tomato plants free

The return of Botanica’s edible garden display this November comes with a bonus.

From Friday (4 November) the first 50 visitors to Council’s conservatory and fernery complex on First Avenue will receive a free tomato plant.

“There’s nothing quite like tomatoes fresh from the garden and we hope you will enjoy growing and tasting your own fresh produce,” said Cemetery and Conservatory Manager Helen Cairns.

“As always we have lots of super tips for your veggie garden and some weird and wonderful veggies that perhaps you haven’t seen before. Come along to visit from 4 November and have a chat to us and pick up a tiny tomato.

“While there you can also check out our wide array of plants that include colourful and exotic palms and orchids, bizarre cacti and succulents, fragrant sub-tropical plants, native ferns and filmy ferns all in one central location.

Located in First Avenue, Whangarei, Botanica is open every day, free of charge, from 10am to 4pm.
