Get fit, Bike 2 Work
Tuesday 1 November
It’s heading into summer and time to get fit. Registrations are now open for the annual 12-week Bike 2 Work challenge run by Auckland Transport in partnership with Bike Wise. Those new to cycling to work in Auckland are challenged to give it a go for a minimum of 10 trips with the opportunity to win some great prizes.
Registrations are open at www.bikewise.co.nz/events/auckland-bike-2-work-challenge Every fifth person who signs up will receive a prize pack with a limit of fifty winners.
Matthew Rednall, Auckland Transport’s Manager Community Transport says the Auckland Bike 2 Work Challenge encourages recreational cyclists to give cycling to work a go.
“As well as the health benefits of cycling for individuals, there are also numerous benefits for the wider community, particularly when bikes are used for commuting which eases congestion on local roads. It's also a very cost-effective way to commute, with savings made on petrol, parking fees, and gym memberships.”
“Auckland Transport’s investment in cycle lanes and connecting key cycle routes for a continuous ride helps improve cycle safety and encourages cycling as an active travel choice in getting to work, says Mr Rednall.
Each week people who sign-up will receive emails with helpful tips from 'Vela' and be in the draw to win great prizes from Avanti, Hoyts, and Bike Wise
If at least 10 journeys to work on a bicycle are logged on the website during the 12-week challenge there is an opportunity to be in the draw to win an Avanti Discovery 8C bicycle, with a bike lock, Cateye light set and Avanti Razor II helmet.
There is also a monthly draw for anyone that has signed up to participate. The monthly prize pack contains:
Avanti high visibility cycle jacket
•
Avanti Saddle bag
• Avanti cycling socks
• Bike Wise Front and rear lights
•
Bike Wise Repair kit
