17 months until Otago and Southland go digital
17 and Counting for Otago and Southland
Nearly 4,000 people, 28,000 kilometres, 116 community groups, 50 press and radio interviews and 36 public events later … Otago and Southland have just 17 months before going digital, bringing an end to analogue television transmission on Sunday 28 April 2013.
“Going Digital is a community project with literally hundreds of individuals, community organisations and businesses’ working to make sure everyone goes digital and doesn’t miss out on what is a superior viewing experience,” says Dan Murphy the Going Digital Community Adviser for Otago and Southland, who has the job of spreading the word about Going Digital.
“Going Digital is working with people like the Manager of the Lumberjack Cafe in Okawa who is talking with his diners about going digital Dunedin retailers who are making sure their teams are trained to give going digital advice. In Central Otago, Wastebusters who built a giant Seymour for their Blossom Festival float featuring bigger than big 'You Don’t Need a New TV to Go Digital" signs.
“Right up until the 2am, Sunday 28 April 2013 deadline I will be meeting and talking with people about better pictures and sound, more channels and new services such as enhanced programming guides that come with digital television.”
