Pleasing Growth for MOVEMBER Campaign
Movember 2011 is turning out to be one of New Zealand’s biggest campaigns yet, with a massive surge in Mo Bros and Sistas registering over the last week, breaking the 10,000 barrier and storming past last year’s total.
Kiwis nationwide are showing their Mo support not only by lending their upper lips, but also with generous donations, as 2011 is set to beat last year’s fund raising figures also.
“To get his much support so early in the month is encouraging,” says New Zealand manager Robert Dunne. “While moustache growing is a fun way of demonstrating support, the Movember message is all about health and the prevention of prostate cancer and depression in men,” he said.
“Public figures such as All Blacks captain Richie McCaw and Good Morning’s Brendon Pongia have used their clout to promote the cause, but it’s the thousands of everyday Mo Bros and Sistas who raise awareness and funds on a community level right across the country,” said Dunne.
This year’s appointed charities are the Cancer Society and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Mo Bros and Sistas can
register as individuals or teams at www.movember.com where
they create their own Mo Space page, an easy place for
others to donate and show their support.
