The inaugural Feast for the Future fundraising event takes place this Saturday 12 November to raise precious funds for the Garden to Table Trust and bookings are still available at some restaurants.
The Garden to Table programme teaches primary school children aged 7-10 years how to grow, harvest, prepare and share food; money raised from the Feast will go towards sustaining and expanding the programme in NZ schools
More than 25 top Auckland restaurants will donate a percentage of their takings from the night to the charity. Aucklanders just have to dine at any of the participating restaurants to show their support.
Yael Shochat of Ima Cuisine (Fort Street, Auckland Central) has designed a special set menu for the evening with Spring-inspired dishes like a salad of raw fish with radishes, fennel, and rocket, and grilled lamb leg with eggplant, roasted new potatoes and asparagus.
Restaurants range from casual and bistro through to fine-dining, from long-time favourites The French Café and O’Connell Street Bistro to new establishments like Depot and MooChowChow.
The popular Ponsonby Road Bistro has also recently signed on to support the event.
Feast for the Future takes place this Saturday November 12. Bookings are still available. For a full list of participating restaurants visit www.gardentotable.org.nz and click on the ‘events’ page.
