Council awaiting funding applications

Council awaiting funding applications

Grants for travel to sporting fixtures and for arts/cultural projects administered by the Selwyn District Council seem to be attracting little attention, administrator Stuart Westoby says.

Applications are open for SPARC Rural Travel Fund grants to assist junior teams with transport for summer sports matches and Creative Communities grants to assist with artistic/cultural projects. Mr Westoby says the Council has had very few applications in and the funding rounds will close on Friday 25 November.

“I guess people might be gathering all the information they need to send us with their applications, but usually by this time I would have at least dealt with some phone enquiries. I know it’s a busy time of year, but these grants are there to encourage and support our rural community, so it would be good to see a few more applications,” Mr Westoby says.

Information and criteria are available at www.selwyn.govt.nz or call Stuart Westoby at the Selwyn District Council on 347 2708. Closing date is Friday 25 November.
