350 Birdman event, Wgtn Anniversary weekend

10am – 5pm, Wgtn Anniversary Weekend, 21-23 January 2012

350 Birdman is a competition to find the craziest and most creative costume to jump off the Wharf! This year we have added an extra day - Days Bay, Saturday 21 Jan (Sunday if wet), as well as Wgtn's Waterfront on Monday 23 Jan; and a BMX jump ramp. We'll have some bikes - you bring your sense of adventure!

There will be a whole range of fun and family-friendly activities to provide an entertaining day for all ages, including music stages, kids rides, food, market stalls, and quality NZ crafts.

350 Birdman from 12 noon
This is the main event! Watch the dressed-up crazies jump! Anyone can enter. There are some great spot prizes for entrants. We're looking for time aloft. Nah, seriously, everyone goes Plop! into the water! We're looking for humour! The best entertainment, and creativity!

BirdKidz from 11am
Primary-age kids have their own competition for best dress, jump, and splash! If you would like to participate, come along with your costumes and paraphenalia, you can enter on the day and everyone is welcome. It's all good fun! There's spot prizes for participants.

BMX Ramp! anytime, all day
Feeling a little crazy? Need a big dose of release? This might be for you... we'll supply the bike, you bring your courage and humour (and a towel). And a camera...

350 Display and Information Stalls 10am-5pm
Participating charities, not-for-profit groups, and NGOs have displays showing off their crazy Birdmen and Birdwomen; and to promote and inform us about their very worthwhile causes.

NZ Crafts Market 10am-5pm
Te Papa Promenade (wharf) in Wgtn, and Williams Park in Days Bay, will host a range of top local Kiwi craftspeople displaying and selling their quality art and handcrafts.

General Market
For a bit of variety in your shopping, check out the general market stalls in Williams and Frank Kitts Parks.

Kids Rides and Activities 10am - 5pm
The nearby park will be alive with rides and slides, merry-go-rounds and facepainting, and lots of fun activities for the kids.

Food Court 10am-5pm
With all that fun to be had, everyone will welcome the variety of healthy and tasty options offered at the food court.

Music!
Days Bay will host one stage of music performances; Wgtn's Waterfront will host multiple stages:

Singer/Songwriter Stage 10am-5pm
Te Papa Promenade will also host an intimate stage of acoustic and semi-acoustic local performers weaving their musical craft.

Youth Stage 11am-5pm
Bands from various colleges and music schools strut their stuff on the big stage. Come and experience the new musical art forms.

Family Stage noon-5pm
Something for all tastes, bands and solo, to complement a pleasant afternoon of enjoying Frank Kitts Park and the activities.
