Survey Results Show Satisfaction with City Services

Results from the latest Communitrak Survey have shown that the majority of people living in Palmerston North are happy with the Council’s services and facilities.

Every two years residents of Palmerston North are surveyed so that the Palmerston North City Council can gauge both community opinion and community spirit.

Figures show the majority of residents surveyed are happy with the level of Council spending and that satisfaction with services clearly outweighs dissatisfaction.

The results reinforce the feeling that residents are more than happy with the services the Council provide.

The Council has used the results to help it develop its draft 10 Year Plan.

“The draft Plan is about to be released shortly,” Andrew Boyle Head of Community Planning said. “And according to the results of the survey it would seem that we are on track. It’s a great feeling that we’re doing things right.”

Notable results included recycling and community spirit. Results showed an increase of satisfaction with recycling in the City with satisfaction levels rising from 70% to 89%. This can be attributed to the introduction of wheelie bins within the City.

The survey also included a question about community spirit with 74% of residents responding that they thought Palmerston North was a friendly City, people were perceived as very helpful and the lifestyle offered in Palmerston North was enjoyable. This is an increase of 21% from the 2007 survey.
