It was with considerable sadness that we learned of the death of Adrian Webster and his wife Marei this morning, said Kapiti Mayor Jenny Rowan.
“We have known Adrian and his wife for a long time and their passing has come as a great shock.
“Adrian has been actively involved in local body affairs for many, many years and an outstanding leader for his community and the ideals of democracy.
“He has diligently represented his community as chair of the Paekakariki Community Board, and been an active representative at Council and in many other forums.
“He has also been a close personal friend and confidant. We shall all miss him dearly.”
Adrian was first elected to the Community Board in 2004. He became chairman in that same year. Mayor Rowan said he was very modest during his campaigns, always highlighting community issues in preference to putting himself forward.
